Absorb What Is Useful
I think one of the greatest book titles ever is Absorb What is Useful by Daniel Inosanto. As many of you know, Dan Inosanto was a friend and student of Bruce Lee and an incredible martial artist and instructor. His message to absorb what is useful and to reject what is useless is such a powerful truth for all studying.
Here is a passage from his book:
"In the use of this book or any book, ABSORB WHAT IS USEFUL to you. Reject what is useless, and adapt or modify the rest to personally suit you. Write in it, underline it, question it, read it again. Treat it like a painting. The more you look at it, the more you might see. And it might not look the same next week or the week after that."
Remember this with everything you study - this blog included. Absorb what is useful to you!

I am in need of your help. I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of Absorb What Is Useful but can't find any. Since it is out of print, all copies are selling for $100 or more. I just want to know if Dan, in any part of the book, states that Ted Wong knows more about JKD than he does. If this is the case, would you be willing to scan that page for me? I will give you my email address to send it to. Thanks.

John,
I looked through my copy of Absorb What is Useful by Daniel Inosanto and I did not see any comment about Ted Wong knowing more.
There is a letter that Guru Inosanto wrote to Bob Guccione of Penthouse Magazine regarding the article, "The Life and Death of Bruce Lee." In that letter he explained his relationship with Bruce Lee and then wrote, "Because of this very close association with Bruce, I believe I have a better knowledge of and insight into Bruce Lee's history than others in this field with the exception of Taky Kimura, my senior in Seattle, Washington, and Ted Wong, my junior in Los Angeles, California."
After establishing his background, Guru Inosanto goes on to address different points in the article.
I hope this helps,
Alain
